About NIHA

Founded in 2014 AD, Nepal Ice Hockey Association (NIHA), is officially affiliated to National Sports Council (NSC) and has got the prestigious affiliated membership of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). NIHA has some well-developed rinks in the lap of Himalayas. As Nepal being the household of eight highest mountains of the world, we are in the process of making other advanced and comfortable rinks in the high altitude of the Himalayan area that no other countries can dream of.

On the occasion of Visit Nepal 2020, we have already completed the competition of ice hockey and skating in the frozen Gokyo lake (4750 meters), situated at the foot of Everest, where world-renowned Olympic champions from US and Canada performed magnificently. We are collaborating with renowned international ice hockey sports associations and planning to enhance the emerging enthusiasm of amateur Nepali players to compete in international sports events.

Why NIHA?

We have a highly skilled, competent, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, experienced and visionary team who have already made a lot of progress during a short time period. We are hiring former Olympic champions from the US and Canada as coaches and mentors. We have already signed some ambitious contracts with internationally renowned associations and are even planning to outsource extraordinary Nepal players. We aren’t limited to planned games only. Visitors are welcome to experience all sorts of available games in our rinks.

Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is to develop Himalayan area into the most attractive destination for skating, skiing, ice hockey, figure skating etc. As Nepali people have a natural tendency towards adventurous, attacking and fast-paced games, we are going to introduce, popularize and develop this game all over Nepal. We are planning to uplift Nepali ice hockey players’ team and aim to make them competitive enough to participate in the Olympic game by 2025.
